Speech Pathology Gold Coast

Assessment and therapy for communication, language, voice, fluency, and swallowing difficulties. Working with children and adults across the Gold Coast.

What is Speech Pathology?

Speech Pathologists (also called speech therapists) are university-trained allied health professionals who assess and treat communication and swallowing disorders. They work with people of all ages β€” from toddlers with language delays to adults recovering from stroke.

Communication is fundamental to quality of life. Our Speech Pathologists take a thorough, evidence-based approach β€” assessing the underlying cause of communication difficulties and designing individualised therapy programs that make a real difference. We also support swallowing (dysphagia) disorders and Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC).

Frequently Asked Questions

At what age should I be concerned about my child's speech?

Every child develops at their own pace, but there are general milestones. If your child isn't using single words by 12–18 months, two-word phrases by 24 months, or is hard to understand by age 3, it's worth a speech pathology assessment. Early intervention makes a significant difference.

Do you see adults as well as children?

Yes. We work with adults experiencing communication or swallowing difficulties following stroke, brain injury, progressive neurological conditions, or voice disorders.

What is AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication)?

AAC encompasses tools and strategies that support communication for people who have difficulty speaking β€” including picture boards, speech-generating devices, and apps. Our speech pathologists can assess AAC needs and support implementation.

Is speech therapy covered by Medicare?

Yes β€” up to 5 subsidised sessions per year under a GP's Chronic Disease Management plan (for eligible conditions). NDIS participants can access speech pathology through their Capacity Building supports.
